The Big Hideout Refurb
Recently over the new year period I helped out our local bar (Hideout) in my hometown Pudsey, Leeds with a bit of renovation. The first step and simpler part was a lick of paint around the whole bar to spruce it up and give it a fresh look and more appealling for the customers.
The more interesting second part of the project was to renovate two old tall tables and produce ten new tables from scratch.
We decided on a rustic look using handrail style metal work for the frames and reclaimed scaffolding boards from the local reclamation yard (Dragon Bridge Reclamation ) based In Wortley.
Now for the hard part 🤣 spending multiple days cutting the boards to length and belt sanding every square inch of the surfaces. this was to remove the worse areas of damage. Then turning to an orbital sander to give a refined finish but retaining the aged and used character of the wood.
The next step involved assembly of the frames and attaching the boards to the frames, before finally applying two coats of Fiddes hard wax oil to give nice sealed finish 😉.
With the rustic look completed the tables arrived at the bar ready for the reopening.
Job done 👌
